Felipe Bier holds a PhD in Literary Theory and Comparative Literature from the University of São Paulo (2016), and is currently an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Literary History and Literary Theory in the University of Campinas, Brazil. He is at Princeton University as a Visiting Fellow with a postdoctoral scholarship awarded by FAPESP (Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo).

Felipe Bier is the author of O resto do sertão: história e modernidade em Grande sertão: veredas (Editora Appris, 2015) and articles on Brazilian Literature, Brazilian Social Thought, and the intersections between Literary Theory and Philosophy. His main interests are: 20th Century Brazilian Literature, Literature about the Brazilian Backlands, Literary Realism, Subaltern Literature, and the nexus between History, Social Thought and Literature.
