The Word and the Sword: Early Modern Spanish Pacific Studies and its Challenges, Opportunities, and Outlook, one-day workshop, took place on Friday April 5th in East Pyne 010. Together fifteen scholars, who have been shaping the field of early modern Spanish Pacific studies in the Latin America, Asia, Europe, and the United States, explored concrete ways in which they can intervene and advance this field of research at the intersection of Latin American studies, Early Modern Studies, Philippine Studies, East Asian Studies, and Religious Studies.
Making reference to the earthquake that took place that morning, Acting Chair, Christina Lee writes "We can confidently say that it was an “earth-shaking” event!"
