This spring Cara Zampino ’17 joined Asymptote, an international journal for literature in translation, to help develop teaching material on pieces published by the magazine. Asymptote’s latest educational guide features Zampino’s first lesson plan, “Race and Cultural Studies: De/Re/Constructing Race Through Performance,” designed for upper-level high school and college classrooms. The lesson focuses on an excerpt from Alain Foix’s drama The Last Scene, which explores the prisons we build from the perspective of activists MLK, Coretta Scott King, and Mumia Abu-Jamal.
The lesson plan can be found here, and the excerpt from The Last Scene here.
