On April 1st, students enrolled in “Opera: Culture and Politics” took an excursion to New York City to attend the performance of Lohengrin at the Metropolitan Opera. The class, cross-listed with European Cultural Studies, has 13 students enrolled, and has focused on issues of cultural representation, including the image of Spain present in Bizet’s Carmen.
