Lecturer Paloma Moscardó recently joined a Princeton student group dedicated to the Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program or KDSAP. This initiative involves conducting educational training workshops that empower students to organize health screenings for the community. Paloma actively contributed to the outreach efforts, specifically targeting the Latino community at Princeton.

On December 1st, 2023, students delved into the program, acquiring practical skills essential for health screenings such as measuring blood pressure, blood sugar levels, BMI, and conducting urinalysis. Despite the demanding day, Paloma felt very proud witnessing some of her former medical Spanish student’s volunteer.

The culmination of these efforts took place on the following day (December 2nd) at the Nassau Presbyterian Church, where the health screenings occurred. The presence of Latino participants underscored the importance of effective communication in Spanish. Looking ahead to the next semester, plans are underway for another clinic, aiming to involve more Medical Spanish students or Spanish-speaking students able to participate. Stay tuned for more information. Despite the intensity of the weekend, the experience proved incredibly rewarding.
