Adriana Merino and Senior IT, Ben Johnston (Princeton University); Nicole Mills (Harvard University), and Robert Rey Agudo (Dartmouth University) participated in a special panel on Artificial Intelligence's role in languages within higher education at MLA 2024 in Philadelphia. This session, co-organized by the MLA Second Language Learning and Teaching Forum and the American Association of University Supervisors, Coordinators, and Directors of Language Programs, provided an interdisciplinary platform for discussing the integration of AI into language learning and teaching. The panelists brought their unique perspectives to the table, addressing how AI can enhance personalized learning, innovate curriculum development, and L2 assessment, potentially closing gaps in language proficiency and intercultural competence, a new era in linguistic education.
