On May 3, 2024, graduate student Lucia Filipova presented the keynote speaker Jessica Glause and her talk “Noah, Moses, Eve and Adam: Working Beyond Language Barriers with Young Performers with and without Refugee Experience at the Bavarian State Opera, Munich” at the conference “Arriving in the Present: A Critical Lexicon for Multilingualism and (Post-)Migration in Contemporary German Studies,” organized by the German Department. This conference brought attention to two growing fields in German Studies: multilingualism and the transnational literature of (post-)migration. Lucia was invited to participate by the conference organizers, Professors Barbara Nagel and Sara S. Poor, for being an active member of the Humanities Council Reading Group “Arriving in the Present: Transcultural Perspectives in Contemporary German-Speaking Contexts” since Fall 2022.
