Beginning in the fall, SPO alum Max Grear ’18 will be pursuing a Ph.D. in Anthropology at Columbia University, specializing in Sociocultural Anthropology. Grear plans to study media and performance in Cuba, with an emphasis on popular music, race, and sexualities. This stems from initial research that he conducted in Cuba for his senior thesis.

Grear was awarded the Ricardo Piglia Best Senior Thesis Prize on Class Day 2018.
