On May 8, 2024, SPO lecturer Raquel Mattson-Prieto gave a webinar presentation entitled, "No me considero bilingüe todavía": Gramatical features of Spanish as a heritage language to an Introduction to Hispanic Linguistics class at California State University, Northridge. The talk began with an overview of the typical profile of heritage speakers, common grammatical features in heritage Spanish, and issues pertaining to identity and investment in Spanish language education. The majority of students who attended the webinar were heritage speakers of Spanish themselves.
