Professor Marina Brownlee publishes collection of essays

Wednesday, Sep 11, 2019

Marina Brownlee has just published Cervantes’ ‘Persiles’ and the Travails of Romance, a collection of essays focused on the Persiles—which Cervantes assumed (rather than the Quijote) would be his legacy to the world.

On the 400th anniversary of the publication of the Persiles it was fitting that a group of scholars gathered to dialogue about this text at Princeton, which is the place where Professor emeritus Alban Forcione launched the field of modern Persiles criticism in 1970. The publication addresses new, 21st-century perspectives on this intriguing and controversial work.
