On Friday April 12th Prof. Lynch, sociolinguist and an expert on language variability and Spanish in the US, gave a talk about Spanglish titled: "Spanglish: ¿Cómo? ¿Dónde? ¿Cuándo? ¿Con quién?". Prof. Lynch interacted with students about Spanglish as an “oral phenomenon.” He gave examples of “languages in contact” in the US, functional constraints in code switching, and borrowings or “préstamos” and “calcos léxicos y sintácticos” between English and Spanish. Prof. Lynch’s talk created great interest and generated spontaneous exchanges with several students in the audience.
