On August 23, Charlie Hankin successfully defended his dissertation titled "Break and Flow: Hip Hop Poetics in Brazil, Cuba and Haiti."

Charlie with be joining the faculty at Colby College as a visiting assistant professor of Spanish on a two-year appointment. 

"Among other things, it will allow me to teach an exciting course I've designed on the relationship between orality, music, and literature in Latin America," Charlie said.
