
Catalina Méndez Vallejo published two book chapters this summer about syntactic and prosodic features of the Focalizing Ser structure, a dialectally marked form typically found in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Panama, and the Dominican Republic.
The first chapter "Understanding the Focalizing Ser structure: Going beyond syntax ", was published in "Form and Meaning: Studies of Grammatical Variation and Communicative Choice in Spanish", a book edited by María José Serrano and Miguel Á. Aijón Oliva.
The second chapter "Focus Inside: Evidence from Spanish and Chinese", was published in "Linguistic Interfaces in East-Asian Languages", a book edited by Jen Ting and Yu-Yin Hsu, in honor of Indiana University emeritus professor, Yoshihisa Kitagawa.
