  • Interview of Brazilian writer Ricardo Lísias Featured in Fórum de Literatura Brasileira Contemporânea

    SPO alum Lara Norgaard’17, graduate student Ingrid Brioso Rieumont, and visiting student Márcia de Castro de Borges interviewed Brazilian writer Ricardo Lísias on his own work, the relation between ethics and aesthetics, the turbulence that hit Brazil in 2016, Dilma Rousseff's impeachment, and the limitation of artistic freedom in Brazil. Lísias’ visit to Princeton in 2016 was part of the seminar “The Subject in Disguise,” taught by professors Pedro Meira Monteiro and Lilia Moritz Schwarcz. Featured in Fórum de Literatura Brasileira Contemporânea (v. 10 n. 19, 2018).

  • Myesha Jemison '18 elected to Princeton Board of Trustees

    Myesha Jemison '18 has recently been elected to serve on the Princeton Board of Trustees. Jemison was elected by the junior, senior and two youngest alumni classes to serve four years as a young alumni trustee.

    Jemison graduated from Princeton on June 5 with a degree in Spanish and Portuguese and certificates in African studies, African American studies, environmental studies and Latin American studies. Post-graduation, she will work in management development with McMaster-Carr.

  • Video: Kyle Berlin '18 delivers Princeton's Valedictory address

    Princeton's valedictorian Kyle Berlin, a Spanish and Portuguese major from Arroyo Grande, California, delivers his remarks. A member of Rockefeller College, Berlin was awarded the George B. Wood Legacy Junior Prize in 2017, the Freshman First Honor Prize in 2015 and the Shapiro Prize for Academic Excellence in 2014-15.

  • Valedictorian Kyle Berlin entwines compassion, creativity through ‘deep listening’ at Princeton

    Berlin, who is concentrating in Spanish and Portuguese languages and cultures and is pursuing certificates in creative writing, Latin American studies and theater, is the valedictorian of the Class of 2018. He will deliver an address at the University’s Commencement ceremony on June 5. A member of Rockefeller College, Berlin was awarded the George B. Wood Legacy Junior Prize in 2017, the Freshman First Honor Prize in 2015 and the Shapiro Prize for Academic Excellence in 2014-15.

  • Charlie Hankin Awarded 2018 Arcadio Díaz-Quiñones Prize

    SPO's end of the year reception was held on Friday May 11, 2018. During the event, graduate student Charlie Hankin was presented with the 2018 Arcadio Díaz-Quiñones Prize for excellence in teaching by a graduate student in the department.
