Brazil LAB- Labor and Gender: Alternative Social Policies in Brazil

A Brazil LAB event with Cecilia Machado and Thomas Fujiwara.

Cecilia Machado is Assistant Professor at the Graduate School of Economics of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV). Her areas of interest include labor economics, econometrics and applied microeconomics. Machado has done research on gender differences in the labor market, family formation and dissolution, and policy evaluations in Brazil. She is currently studying the evaluation of conditional cash transfers and their impact on health, education and economic self-sufficiency.

Thomas Fujiwara is Associate Professor at the Department of Economics and the Associate Director of the Brazil LAB at Princeton University. His research is centered on political economy topics, with a focus on developing countries. In particular, Fujiwara's work aims to understand how political and social institutions shape individual behavior and influence representation in both elections and the workplace.
