Check out our faculty's most recent book releases and recent news regarding faculty research projects exploring little known archives in Cuba and the Philippines. The latter brought 15 international scholars as part of a one-day workshop during the spring of 2024 to intervene and advance this field of research. SPO also set to launch a project applying artificial intelligence (AI) to create interactive and immersive vocabulary learning experiences thanks to funding from the Humanities Council Magic Grant.

Faculty in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese collaborate frequently with students and faculty from other universities and organizations to bring forward fresh and innovative ideas. Learn about the department's most recent collaborations, including the revitalization of the indigenous Nahuatl language. The department also continuing to participate in international dialogues on important topics, as demonstrated by a recent symposium in Brazil and LASA's annual conference in Colombia June 2024 where multiple faculty members presented on various topics.
